The Measure of a Man

He was there for her first breath

She was there for his last

How do you measure the value

Of a life that has passed?

Is it by what was produced or achieved?

Or by the legacy they leave?

Perhaps it’s by what’s been experienced or enjoyed

Maybe by obstacles overcome

Battles lost, battles won

What if value is found

Not by anything done on this ground

but by the One who

all of creation revolves around

Value is determined by what one will pay

And when God made Chris — He said -

For Him I will give my Son away

God made him in His image

To display His glory

And in love, Chris made Christ

his one and only

Now our loss is heaven’s gain

But weep not -

A day is coming that will cancel this pain

God will make all things new

This is a secure hope for you too

If you want to honor the memory of this man

Then place your trust in these nail scarred hands

The hands that defeat death

Restore breath

Rescue the weak

Bring joy to the meek

Jesus is the One

And He has won

The victory is in His hands

Trust Him and enjoy the love that withstands

sickness, death, and regret

There is no equal that He has met

Embrace the hope, love and healing Chris knew

Trust Jesus — Let Him carry you

Hear His tender voice call you

And know a love that is beyond value

I’m here to exalt Christ and His care for the poor and marginalized. I look forward to thoughtful dialogue, sharpening critique, and inspiring community.
